University students resident in Accra, at the weak end voted unanimously to re-apply for admissions. At a meeting held in Accra to discuss the modalities regarding the re-opening of the universities, Mr. E. K. Quainoo, president of the Students Representative Council of the University of Ghana, Legon, said all students, including the leadership of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) would re-apply.

He, however, hoped that in the spirit of the PNDC’s reconciliation efforts, no student would be victimized at return to their return to campus.

Explaining that debates, symposia and sometimes demonstrations, formed part of normal life at the Universities. Mr. Quainoo said “we do not know when any of these would be interpreted as disturbing academic life.
