The Dean of the Faculty of Social Science, University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Professor Ebenezer Acquaye, has appealed to the staff and students of the university to stay away from classes until the current situation on the campus returns to normal. 

He believed that there was an obvious threat to property and life of both students and staff.

According to a circular issued at the UST here last Thursday, Prof. Acquaye observed that despite all the assurances given by the police and the Vice-Chancellor at an Academic Board meeting held on the campus last Wednesday, all classes in the faculties were disrupted again last Thursday morning by a group of students, I am, therefore, notwith-standing whatsoever decision that has been taken by the academic board, advising that the staff and students should feel free to stay away from classes until the current situa-tions have been brought to normal.

The circular was copied to the Vice-Chancellor, heads of departments, deans and senior Staff of the university.

Students of the University of Science and Technology (UST), demonstrating against the “go-home-order” to Queen Hall residents, yesterday damaged a police patrol vehicle and injured two policemen.

According to a spokesman for the University Police Station, the two policemen who were injured had been treated and discharged at the Kom Anokye Hospital following the attack.

The names of the policemen were being withheld.

The spokesman said the students, who had blocked some roads at the university started throwing stones and other missiles when the vehicle which was conveying police patrolmen appeared.
