THE NATIONAL UNION OF GHANA STUDENTS PRESS RELEASE

The National Union of Ghana Students welcomes the setting up of a five-member Committee of Enquiry to probe the recent nation-wide student demonstrations, which led to the closure of the three Universities.

The NUGS is convinced that since evidence is expected to come mainly from students of the three Universities, who are at the moment scattered all over the country, a re-opening would enable as many students as possible to be available to the Committee.

The NUGS therefore calls on the Government to consider re-opening the three Universities without delay. This move, it is contended, will help facilitate the work of the Committee, which is likely to suffer as a result of the continued closure.
