Hello Children! 

A branch of our great, dynamic Party, to which all our parents and guardians belong, has been formally inaugurated at the University of Ghana, Legon. The ceremony marked a significant point in the history of our people’s Universities and showed how deeply the Party has been rooted in the fabric of our educational Institutions. Thanks to  Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. The Great Hall of University was the venue of the historic ceremony which was held under the chairmanship of Defence Minister, Kofi Baako, assisted by a panel of intellectuals drawn from all sections of our community lite.

One of the important points in the speeches delivered at the function was that all students and professors in the country are bound to identify themselves. with the socialist revolution taking place in the country. They must also give their support to the Party for, the nation has declared Socialism and a One-Party State and therefore, students in our higher institutions particularly, should not live in the “Ivory Tower’ any longer. The panel members stressed that what was needed at this stage of our development, was a strong, dynamic youth movement embracing in its fold, the whole student population of the country, dedicated to one ideology and fighting for the same ends. Children, with the Party being formed in our schools and colleges, is imposed a great upon us by the nation. 

The impact the inaugural ceremony at Legon made was such that a university student sitting by me exclaimed “This is the greatest day I have witnessed at this university.” Indeed. It was a great day because the students were brought home to realise that splinter groups in the university did not conform with the pattern of our national life. Shouts of hear! hear! Hear!  rent the hall as speaker after speaker emphasized that university students were in a unique position to help maintain and uphold all that is dear to us all. This found expression in the students’ plea that opportunities should be created for them to live and work with the masses by whose toll and sweat, they were being given free education.
