Nearly a hundred riot policemen armed with tear — gas equipment and wielding billy clubs clashed with
University of Ghana students who demonstrated at the Legon campus for the second day. Twenty-four persons, mostly students, workers on the campus and some newsmen and camermen covering demonstrations were arrested. Eight students received serious injuries and four have been hospitalized. Demonstrations against the university administration began Sunday to protest the 28-day suspension of four students for having written what were termed scurrilous articles against some lecturers and university administrators in the student magazine Siren. A fifth student’s degree was withheld for a year.
