Protest note sent to U.K envoy

More than 500 students of the University of Ghana, Legon, yesterday demonstrated in
front of the British High Commission in Accra in protest against the continued executions of Africans
in Rhodesia by the racist lan Smith regime. Bearing placards some of which read, “Down with Wilson” “Africa on the warpath,” and “Hands off Africans,” the students went on a route march from the Black Star Square, through the 28th February Road to the offices of the High Commission where they succeeded in handing a protest note to the High Commissioner, Mr H. K Matthews.

A spokesman for the students told newsmen. who could not reach the High Commission, that the students expected an instant transmission of the protest Note to the British Government.

One of the demonstrators commented later that Africans must not allow people of other countries to feel that Africans could be taken for a ride. He said Britain was to blame squarely for all the murders that had taken place in Rhodesia.  If the rebels had been black,

“the so-called. British lions would long have descended on them,”

he added.
