REMINDER

COMRADES,

On the 1st Anniversary of the Soweto uprising against tyranny, oppression, and human indignities, by the apartheid police state of South Africa, let us consider what lesson we can learn in relation to our dear
nation, Ghana, which has been arrogantly and indecently raped by the irresponsible and confused S.M.C. Government.

One thing we must never forget is that in Soweto the struggle still continues, a whole year after it started. Those reactionaries among us who for various egoistic reasons love to dream of a few days’ revolution which has a short term effect must restructure their assessment of our
whole revolutionary cause. The revolution must succeed at all cost, we must fight indefinitely until success is won, and until we see a total change in our society.

In Soweto, it was school children who started the revolution. cannot forget the effort of Tsetsi Masinini who at only 19 years organised the revolution. We must never forget that we have like our Soweto Comrades started a revolution from which no student can exonerate himself/herself. Students must unite and by our example we can help make Ghana a better place to live in, for all.

The gallant students of Soweto rose up in open rebellion because they share the conviction that man cannot be denied liberty, equality, and justice. In Ghana, liberty, equality and justice are a farce. The
contradiction in our society hit us hard in the face. The blind cannot refuse to see the bloodless genocide going on in our society. of Ghana, let us ensure that a group of misguided and power drunk freaks
do not deny us our birth rights and gleefully lead us to the very brink
of our disaster and our very destruction.

The apartheid South African regime has a powerful army armed to the teeth. Yet the students of Soweto were not deterred by such night. They organised themselves and rose up against oppression. Fellow Ghanaians: we are witnesses to the formidable military build up of the S.M.C. government and the huge sums misused on defence. (The Ghana Police Force now use B.M.W.s alongside the 280s and 350s for patrols. Think of the misjustifications and the huge sums of money mis-spent in purchasing armoured cars for the Police; the Range Rovers for the irresponsible Commissioners explained away by the whipping boy inflation). Let us have courage and with proper organisation, a clearly defined ideology and the will to win, we shall surely overcome.

Finally Comrades: let us not forget that no revolution is won without struggles and bloodshed, as we have been witnesses to recently. A revolution by its very nature destroys the old order and heralds in
the new. It is a fundamental change of the political, economic and social institution as well as a change in class structure, norms, values and consciousness of the people.

Let us remember the gallant dead of Soweto, never forget the kind of struggle we have embarked on. Let know the full dimension of our revolution. Those who have gone before us have not died in vain. We
say to then, Comrades we shall succeed; the true revolution shall succeed; Ghana shall be made a better place to live in; Ghana shall be saved. Long Live The True Revolution. THE S.M.C. MUST GO!
